Cristina was in bed. She had every intention of staying in bed for the foreseeable future. What reason was there to get out of bed, after all? She wasn't printing human hearts. She wasn't even a surgeon anymore. She was barely a doctor. She was somehow four years in the future and no matter what Jono said, losing four years was not going to be okay. She'd been kidnapped by a magical island of weirdos, the laws of science no longer meant anything, and everyone she tried to talk to about it just blew that off like it was no big deal.

Also, she was out of tequila and very, very hung over.

So she was going to stay in bed. Damn the bedsores. And the slow atrophy of her muscles. If life was even a little fair, she'd go full-on catatonic like after the plane crash, so she wouldn't have to think about how very unfair life really was. Nothing could get her out of this bed.

Except for her cellphone ringing. With Meredith's number.

Cristina launched herself across the room to where her phone was charging on the credenza. "Mere? Mere, oh my god. Can you hear me? Please tell me you can hear me."

"Of course I can hear you. Why didn't you call after you landed? You said you'd call! I haven't heard from you in like a month!"

"I know, I tried. I tried so many times, you would not believe what's been happening to me. Like you would literally not believe it. It is not to be believed."

"You're not going to believe what's happening here! Derek quit his job. His fancy all important job with the government to map the brain, he quit and I didn't ask him to do that. All I said was that I wasn't leaving Seattle, not that he couldn't go to DC!"

"I've been kidnapped by an island, Mere. I got a cab to the airport and instead he dropped me off in a place that physically can't exist. There is a man here with no organs. Why doesn't he have any organs? Because his entire torso is on fire!"

"And then, the new cardio chief? That arrogant little child you hired to replace Russell? She says she's my sister. That Mom gave her up for adoption when we were in Boston. She's five years younger than me, Cristina! What, Mom just went through 9 months of pregnancy and giving the kid up for adoption and I was supposed to just not notice?"

"I'm four years in the future! It's 2018 here! You do not want to know how the last presidential election went, Mere, it's appalling. Oh! Oh! There's a woman who runs one of the bars? She can walk through solid objects. One guy swears up and down he's from space. From space, Mere! Like -- another galaxy! And he takes students on field trips to Mars!"

"The chief promised your board seat to Bailey, did you know that? But since you basically handed it to Alex, now we've got a weird little political war going on. And Wilson keeps giving me the evil eye in my own house. Okay, Alex's house. But still! It was my house first! And I need Alex! If I can't have you, I need to have Alex!"

"I spent half of last week as a seventeen year old! Bad bangs, weird glasses, cigarettes and all! I'm lucky I didn't go for a joyride on a donorcycle and end up dead! Except maybe I am dead. I'm half-convinced I'm dead, Mere, and I don't have anyone here to talk to about it. Please, Mere, for the love of god, shut up and let me talk to you about it!"

". . . Wait, what?"

Cristina collapsed back down on her bed. "Yeah."

"Did you say you got kidnapped by an island?"

"Some sort of netherworld copy of Mont St Michel, yeah. Did you say the new cardio girl is your sister?"

"Claims to be my sister. I think she's insane."

"She should come here. She'll fit right in. There's only one other doctor on this whole island and get this: he quit being a trauma surgeon to become a psychiatrist. Also I think when we were teenagers he implied he ate people? But that can't be right."

"I'm starting to think I should have gone to DC after all. Do you need me to come rescue you?"

"You can try? I don't know if it would work. I'm pretty sure I'm actually in Hell."

"You don't believe in Hell."

"I know. But you could get trapped, too. And then there'd be no one to keep GSM from, like, literally imploding."

"But you have a guy on fire!"

"And you have a crazy sister." Cristina smiled faintly. She was starting to feel more normal already. "Tell me more about your crazy sister. Did you ask Webber about her? I mean, I love you, Mere, but you absolutely could have just not noticed your mom being pregnant when you were five. . . ."

Right, so Cristina was not getting out of bed. Until her conversation with Meredith -- who was apparently staying home sick today to day-drink -- finally petered out.

So maybe sometime by midweek, then.

[For establishy purposes unless someone can come up with a reason to come visit Cristina in her hotel room. OOC is also welcome. Meredith's side of the conversation is based on details from the first three episodes of Grey's Anatomy season 11. God, but I love my weird-ass show.]
